Obituary of Margaret Paterson

Margaret Paterson, age 86, passed away peacefully, March 6, 2024 at her Lake Hiawatha, NJ home. She was 86.

She was born on August 31, 1937 in Kearny, NJ, the eldest of 10 siblings. She was a resident of Kearny and North Arlington before coming to the Lake Hiawatha section of Parsippany over 50 years ago.

Miss Paterson earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Education from Seton Hall University. She dedicated many years to being an educator at Kearny High School before transitioning to a child study team member, ultimately retiring in 1994.

Following her retirement, Margaret found joy in creating floral arrangements, engaging in various crafts and tending her garden.

Margaret is survived by her siblings, Mary Paterson, Robert Paterson and his wife, Betsy, John J. Paterson, James Paterson and his wife, Ronnie Lynn, Thomas Paterson, Bernadette Coulombe, and Regina Cirrincione; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarah and Robert Paterson; her sisters, Sheila and Claire Paterson; and her niece Mary, Coulombe.

Margaret Paterson's legacy will live on through her passion for teaching, love for crafting, and dedication to her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Thursday, March 14, 2-4 & 7-9pm at S.J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 North Beverwyck Road, Lake Hiawatha. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, March 15, 10:00am at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Parsippany.
